It Really Works For Us - Healthy Dog Food Critique
You are most probably not aware what crap meats and fillers are used to produce the most popular name brand foods. They are expensive because of the advertising. In the large 44 pound bags it's usually a bit over a dollar per pound, which is comparable to the big box brands. We were able to get our Dane to a proper weight on it and keep our mutt from "chubbing" up too much, so I'm very impressed.
With the cheap food, it smelled like rank dog poop! Would make you retch and gag!
Not only is it a healthy organic meal, I personally like what the Newman Foundation does with their profits (after taxes) from their products, $265 MILLION has been donated to various charities to date by their foundation. I buy Newman's Own products whenever I can (their spaghetti sauce is out-of-this-world..."Roasted Garlic"...YUM!).
I was able to source the Canidae and the Solid Gold foods locally for my Dal with serious allergies. Both of the foods have had better results than the super pricey prescription diets. I wish it was available at more stores. I have started buying a lot of organic food over the past year, and it dawned on me that perhaps my dog should be eating more healthfully also. Even my dog's teeth are cleaner since being on it. I have 4 adult Shih-Tzus and while they do prefer it when I cook for them, they do eat this and it has helped eliminate the brownish tear stains they get when I feed them some dry foods.
I accidently purchased this thinking it was what it claimed on the front package, only to read the ingredient list to find out that basically everything else but the chicken was organic. With all of the drugs and hormones fed to conventionally raised "food animals" this ingredient is the most important one that should be organic. My cocker puppy threw up castor and Poullex and Natural balance and had loose motions. So I tried this and he did great! It is not like other cat foods that are like McDonalds for pets. No sudden highs and lows after eating. Use the food cost calculator. Your dog eats less of this than many of the garbage filled brands. These 'Organic' companies can't get away misleading people. If everyone exposed them, then this would be a better world.
Anyway, I started giving them more raw food and the gas has disappeared and my girl sheltie no longer has anal gland issues. Their teeth are cleaner too. I get it via "subscribe and save" so I never run out, I save over the store price and it's delivered right to my door. What could be easier"
I really cannot say enough about this food; it has made my dogs more balanced mentally and physically. I have relied on Canidae for my 4 dogs for over 3 years now.
